Visitación Badana Ribagorda

Visitación Badana (born 2 July 1937) was a Filipino athlete.

Badana is one of a select few groups of Filipino Women to win an Asian Games gold medal in Athletics. This came in 1958 when at age 21 she won the Women’s Long Jump Gold with a leap of 5.64 meters Dunia Internasional (1958). Badana was part of the powerhouse Cebu Institute of Technology team under Fructosa Soriano.

Joined the PRISAA in 1960.

Visitación Badana went to the 1960 Olympics in Rome finishing 24th of 30 athletes in the Women’s Long Jump with a leap of 5.59 meters.

Visitación Badana  held the National Record, which was broken in 1965 by Lydia Rosalada (later Lydia Silva Netto) at 5.70m. And then surpassed in 1970 by Heptathlete Lolita Lagrosas at the Pre-UAAP meet who leapt 5.71m.

I am appreciating any photos of Ribagorda. Please email to [email protected].
