Return of Mindanao Blue Knights Track League Season 7
The announcement of the 7th Season of Mindanao Blue Knights Track League is a very welcome development for PinoyAthletics. Who can now with some relief focus their efforts and meet management on the Northern Provinces of the Philippines.
While the Mindanao Blue Knights Track League once again takes charge as the premier brand of Mindanao Athletics events.
Events are expected to start as early as October 2022.
The Mindanao Blue Knights Track League was the brainchild of PinoyAthletics co-founder Professor Airnel T. Abarra. And made possible through the support of Ateneo Sports Director Mr. Noli Ayo. Its objective is to provide a structured and enjoyable athletic meet for the athletes of Mindanao but anyone is welcome to join.
It ran 6 years from 2014 to 2020, and at this time was the only established Track League in Mindanao. It was held in Davao City, Tagum, Koronadal and Tubod (250 entries, Lanao Del Norte).
The Independent and self-sustaining Mindanao Blue Knights Track League has received no funding from the PSC or the PATAFA.
The event was last staged in Season 6 in February of 2020. Just before the start of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Airnel has been busy in Europe working towards his Ph.D. Candidate Hungarian University of Sport Science Budapest, Hungary, which he is expected to complete by next year (2023).
However, the Mindanao Track League was continued under the ‘PinoyAthletics’ brand in 2021 in other incarnations first as the Pinoyathletics SprinTopia virtual event which was held nationwide with 40 entries at the cement oval at Cagayan De Oro.
And then later in the year three legs in April, May, and December of the PinoyAthletics Mindanao Track League at the abandoned Poly Sports Oval in Butuan City. The last event with 70 entries. The Mindanao Track League in Butuan was made possible by Coach Dennis Scott.
This very welcome development now allows PinoyAthletics to focus on its Northern Athletic Programs, including its continued Grassroot and elite programs in partnership with Pangasinan.
Possible venues for the Blue Knights are Mati, Prosperidad, Koronadal, Lanao, Oroquieta City, and Bukidnon. But the event is welcome to further partners and collaboration to lift the Athletic Programs of Mindanao.
