FESSAP Sends Philippine Athletics at World University Games

FESSAP will send 15 Athletes to the World University Games in Taipei. Also, the team will be accompanied by Former National Head Coach Joseph Sy. However, the games are held at the same time as the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur. Also, and selected the talents from a selection of upcoming athletes from Colleges all around the country.

Above all, it is a strong team consisting of Four Former National Athletes, Louielyn ‘Lot Lot’ Pamatian and Karen Twiste Janario of UST, Jaime Mejia (UP). And Felyn Dolloso (DLSU Dasmarinas). The team also features one Fil-Heritage Connor Henderson, who took the silver medal in the national open in the 400 Hurdles. In addition, Karen Janario holds the National Junior Record in the 100 Hurdles.

Several other athletes were also selected by the screening committee but didn’t join due to not securing passports, lacking permission from guardian coaches, or lacking funds for the trip. Therefore and reduced a list of 35 to 15 for the reasons stated.

World University Games Athletics Selection

Regarding World University Games Athletics in August 2017 in Taipei.

We can enter a maximum of 2 per event.

Please email your name, school, contact number, coach, coach contact number, event, best performance, date, and meet of performance.

1. The athlete should have a phi passport
2. An athlete should be studying at University or a recognized Tertiary Institution.
3. The athlete should be 18 to 25.
4. Performances should be within the last 6 months.
5. as this coincides with sea games, athletes won’t be able to attend both meets.

All entries are subject to screening and approval by the organizing and selection panel.

FESSAP gets the nod of Asean Universities Sports Council

The secretary-general of the ASEAN University Sports Council visited the Philippines following the Philippines’ Federation of School Sports Association as its sole member from the country.
The AUSC comprises members from Southeast Asia nations such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, East Timor, Brunei, and the PhilippinesRoestam Efendi Sijar, the AUSC secretary-general from Malaysia and his assistant. Zaran Noh, also from the same country, met FESSAP President Angel Ngu, Executive Vice President Robert Milton Calo, and Board Chairman Mr. Tai Lian at the Manila Hotel.

FESSAP taps ANN Janeth G. Garcia in FISU event

ANN Janeth G. Garcia has been designated by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines to represent the country in the Federation of International University Sports Volunteer Leaders event in Kazan, the Russian Republic, from June 14 to 22.

 

Her journey to the host city of the 2013 Summer Universiade has all the blessing and support of the FESSAP, participating in the FISU event for the last several years.

 

Garcia’s inspiring story is worth sharing with all student-athletes who aspire to become leaders in their field of endeavors.

FISU Regulations

The athletics events will be organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The Executive Committee will fix the competitions’ program and duration according to the Organising Committee and the CTI. In principle, the program shall last six (6) days and include the following events:

  Track discipline Field discipline Road
Men 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Jumps: high, long, 20km walk, half marathon
  1500m, 5000m and 10.000m triple and pole vault  
  Hurdles: 110m and 400m Throws: discus, javelin,  
  3000m steeplechase shotput, hammer  
  Relays: 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m    
  Decathlon  
Women 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Jumps: high, long, 20km walk, half marathon
  1500m, 5000m and 10.000m triple and pole vault  
  Hurdles: 100m and 400m Throws: discus, javelin,  
  3000m steeplechase shotput, hammer  
  Relays: 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m    
  Heptathlon  

 

Each country is authorized to enter in: 

  1. an individual event: two (2) athletes, both of whom have achieved the entry standard for the event in the year before the Universiade or one (1) athlete who has not achieved the entry standard;
  2. a team event: one (1) team
  3. For 10.000m for men and women, a maximum of three (3) athletes, all of whom have achieved the entry standard of the event in the year before the Universiade, or two (2) who have not achieved the entry standard. 
  4. For the half-marathon and 20-km walk for men and women, a maximum of five (5) athletes, all of whom have achieved the entry standard of the event in the year before the Universiade, or three (3) who have not achieved the entry standard.
  5. Each delegation entering a race walk or half-marathon team shall take part with a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) athletes.

Minimum Requirements for Athletics

The Organising Committee must provide, for exclusive use, one athletics stadium with full support facilities as approved by the Athletics CT. and must follow the IAAF regulations.
