And Elreen Ando finished a commendable 7th at her First Olympic Games in the Womens 64kg Olympic lifting category. The gold was won by cross-fit legend Maude Charron of Canada with a 236kg combined effort.
Remember 18-year-old Hidilyn Diaz (now 30) finished last at her first Olympics in London in 2008.
So now the 22-year-old Ando has more Olympics to look forward to. As per Covid Protocols, Hidilyn Diaz has now flown back to the Philippines awaiting a hero’s welcome.

Elreen Ando 64kg with a 94kg Snatch and a 119kg Clean & Jerk Pr to take 2nd 🥈 in Total with 213kg. Ando is an athlete with immense potential. She has overcome jet lag, lack of training, and an unfortunate event before the competition to put on a show.
It takes a great mindset to get through these challenges, and she has shown it with great poise and technique. Congratulations Ando! What are your thoughts on her lifts?
