Elreen Ando finishes a commendable 7th

As the old saying goes Rome wasn’t built in a day. But Ando gave the Philippines another top 8 finish going with Margielyn Didal, Nesthy Petecio (ongoing) and the brilliant Gold of Hidilyn Diaz.

And Elreen Ando finished a commendable 7th at her First Olympic Games in the Womens 64kg Olympic lifting category. The gold was won by cross-fit legend Maude Charron of Canada with a 236kg combined effort.

Remember 18-year-old Hidilyn Diaz (now 30) finished last at her first Olympics in London in 2008.

So now the 22-year-old Ando has more Olympics to look forward to. As per Covid Protocols, Hidilyn Diaz has now flown back to the Philippines awaiting a hero’s welcome.
