End of Era Duong Van Thai Greatest Middle Distance runner in SEA Games History fails to make SEA Games team

Duong Van Thai the Greatest Middle Distance Runner in SEA Games History and defending SEA Games 800/1500 Champion. Wound up 3rd in the 1500m and 6th in the 800m at the Vietnam National Championships in Hanoi held December 8-13. The same stadium which will hold the 2022 SEA Games May 10-23.

The 29 year old Duong Van Thai performances were well off his personal bests clocking 3:56 and 1:55.

Such is the depth of Vietnam Middle Distance Running it was so cut throat the SEA Games Champion ended up displaced from the team.

Emerging was a younger generation of athletes with Tran Van Dang, 21 taking the 800m in 1:53.40 and 1500m in 3:54.98. The top ranked time in South East Asia for 2021 in South East Asia in 800m and only behind Thai-American Kieran Tuntivate (3:50.15) the SEA Games 5000,10000m Champion in 1500m.
