Coaching

Andrew Pirie

Level 2 Intermediate Club Coach – Australia

Greetings all i am one of the Guest Coaches on the Pinoyathletics Q&A.

My name is Coach Andrew/Enzo

I have worked with all levels of athletes from as young as 5 right up to High school, College, and Elite.

;

My own coaching Philosophy

To encourage and guide athletes through improving strengths and working on weaknesses in technique.  Regardless of their ability or disabilities. To be the best they can be is more important than winning.

I served with the PSC Management from 2013-2015 where i helped recruit Athletes such as Eric Cray, Kayla Richardson and Trenten Beram.

As a coach, I work mainly as a private coach. But I did have a stint with The Zamboanga Sports Academy as their coaching consultant and sprints coach.

Athletes I have worked with that have represented the Philippines include Yuhei Go SEA Games 4×100 reserve, Lorna Olarita who made the national team in the 400 and Anjelica De Josef who took a bronze medal for the Philippines in the 800 in the ASEAN School Games in 2016. I also have trained a few Palaro finalists and regional champions.

I mainly coach sprints up to 400. But I have also worked with middle distance and jumpers.

Currently, I am based in Australia working towards my Level 3 coaching accreditation. But I would not rule out the possibility of coaching in the Philippines again.

The picture below working with the Philippines women’s 4×100 in Thailand.

I pride myself on having a squeaky clean record of improvement with every single athlete I have worked with. Meaning I have no experience developing an athlete that failed to improve during the time I coached them.

In the below link is a detailed summary of the improvements of all the athletes I have worked with.

I have coached in Australia and The Philippines. Below is a detailed summary of the athletes I have worked with. I apologize to those I may have missed as I have worked with a lot of athletes and occasionally some data goes missing.

I started off coaching Via Email but then transitioned into direct coaching. I still do both.

I primarily coach Privately. But did work two years for a Provincial Sports Academy in the Philippines with Elementary and High School Kids.

During that time I focused on building the sprints program. And had athletes qualify for national high school finals and win regionals.

A big turn around was a Regional 100m title in the Boys. Where my 2 athletes went 1-2. The first time in 10 years anyone from that province had won the Regional 100m. The year before I came we were last in the finals.

I have coached three athletes so far that have represented the Philippines. 2 in age-grade meets.

I am very orientated on correct movement patterns, teaching progressive movement and corrective drills with video analysis. Strength Training. Plyometrics to activate fast-twitch muscles, and rest and recovery variables.

I primarily coach Sprints, but have also coached Middle Distance, Long Distance, Long Jump, and High Jump and am starting to get into Hurdles coaching.
