Carlo Paalam settles for silver
Carlo Paalam rounds off the Philippines’ best-ever Olympic Showing. With a 4-0 loss to Galal Yafei. The Philippines now ends its Tokyo 2021 Olympic Campaign with 1 Gold, 2 Silvers a bronze.

The Philippines now has the chance of winning a second gold medal through Boxer Carlo Paalam. He beat his semi-final opponent, Tanaka of Japan, convincingly 5-0. After that, he will face Britain’s Galal Yafei, the 2018 Prestigious Golden Belt winner, with the match taking place at 14:00 (Japanese time) on August 7th. Boxing has won a Silver via Nesthy Petecio and Bronze via Eumir Marcial.

Carlo Paalam has assured himself of a medal with Nesthy Petecio and Eumir Marcial after defeating his quarter-final opponent Shakhobidin Zoirov in the 48-52kg Flyweight Boxing at the Tokyo Olympic Games 4-0 decision. Shakhobidin, the defending 2016 Olympic Champion, suffered a surprise loss to the Filipino athlete.
Paalam will now face Ryomei Tanaka of Japan in Semi-Final 1 on August 5 at 14:30 (Japan Time).
Former POC President and ABAP Boxing head Ricky Vargas boxers have delivered more than one medal but will be assured of several this Olympics.

Paalam joins his teammates in the next round for Boxing
Carlo Paalam of the Philippines made light work of his first-round opponent Brendan Irvine of Ireland, the 2017 European Bronze medalist winning 4-1. With 4 of the 5 judges ruling in favor of the Filipino.
Paalam, who turned 23 10 days ago, is the 2018 Asian Games bronze medalist and moves next to the Round of 16 in the Mens 48-52kg flyweight division.
Paalam joins his teammates Nesthy Petecio and Irish Magno, passing the first round and surviving in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Petecio will have her second match later today and be up against Lin Yu-Ting of Taipei.
