Cagayan De Oro Oval
More Comprehensive Details on all Track Ovals in the Philippines
Please note that the central Oval is in Disrepair, with no rubber, just concrete. Milo insists that this oval still is used more than any other oval for the Milo Little Olympics Mindanao.
However, there is another private oval with 8 lanes at Xavier University, Ateneo De Cagayan, which is in usable condition.

Cagayan De Oval Track Oval sports training center to rise in barangay Lumbia.
If the plan goes well, a modern and state-of-the-art sports training center will rise in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City.
The proposed three-hectare Cagayan de Oro City Sports Training Center. well-equipped with facilities such as a rubberized track and field oval
- football, softball, and baseball fields
- Olympic-standard size swimming pool,
- lawn tennis courts, archery range
- boxing gym
- athletes’ quarters (dormitory)
- canteen and parking spaces,
according to city sports consultant Oscar ‘Boy’ Cinco.
The establishment of the training center is envisioned by Mayor Oscar Moreno, a basketball and sports enthusiast.
While hoping to elevate to a higher level the performance of elite athletes from Cagayan de Oro City and neighboring areas in the region.
Who will bring pride and honor to the city and Northern Mindanao in local, national, and even international sporting events?
To ensure a fully-sustained and scientific training approach, the city government plans to provide a monthly stipend, food allowance, free education, and dormitory accommodation. The selected trainees-athletes could concentrate and focus on their strenuous training.
Sports focal person Stephen ‘Pong’ Dacoco said the Philippine Sports Commission had already sent their technical experts who made the Cagayan De Oval Track Oval sports training center’s perspective and 3D-format technical design as requested by Mayor Moreno, who sought the help of PSC Chairman Butch Ramirez.
However, the mayor said the sprawling training center’s proposed construction is a daunting and challenging job at hand as the project needs massive funding on the part of the city and national government.

Cagayan De Oro Track Oval in Disrepair
Sept 26, 2016
Reports in the Pelaez Sports Complex Track and Field oval in Cagayan De Oro for Milo Little Olympics have no more rubber left on it except the throwing and jumping areas.
The 8-lane track is all grass and asphalt.
Photos prove this is true. Only the throws area has some somewhat melted rubber, and the long jump runway and four lanes warm-up areas have rubber.
While the track is bare.
The meet was delayed a month so renovations? could happen. It looks like the only renovations were that lines were painted on the Asphalt.
Cagayan De Oro has exclusively hosted the Milo Mindanao Little Olympics. For several years without another Mindanao City being awarded the event.
The only suitable standard 400 meters 8 lane sized ovals, to my knowledge, in Mindanao seem to be Pagadian, Tagum, and Koronadal.
The Batang Pinoy was scheduled to be held in Surigao Del Norte from Oct 28 to Nov 2, but this oval also needs to be inspected to ensure it is competitive-worthy.
Former Gintong Alay Australian Coach Tony Benson stated on Facebook.
The absolute WORST thing any official body is put down a synthetic track and then not maintain it so it ends up as hard tar or concrete. If the commitment is NOT THERE to maintain it leave it as grass or dirt. At least it can be used unless on rain soaked days for years. Alternatively lay an expensive track but keep people off it so it lasts longer.
The above advice is beneficial. Cagayan De Oro cannot fix this oval another city should be allowed to take this event.
