2023 ASEAN School Games Trials Pasig on June 10
To select a team for the 2023 ASEAN School Games in Athletics August 8-15 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
A Big shock was when Ana Bhianca Espenilla of Masbate Sports Academy got the win in the Girl’s Javelin over SEA Games Silver medalist and National Junior Record Holder Gennah Malapit of Rizal Province. Espenilla threw the Javelin at 49.81m, with Malapit in 2nd at 49.09m. Albeit, it was with a 500-gram javelin rather than the standard 600-gram javelin they will be using at the Palarong Pambansa.
Meanwhile, in the Boys, 100m, national school champion Renier Ranges of VMUF/PinoyAthletics Elite ruled the Boys 100 in 10.83, 2.5m clear of Alfredo Pineda at 11.07, and the B-Race was won by Nash Candelario in 11.09. Pineda won the 200 meters in 22.50, off the back of his brilliant wins at the Central Luzon Meet and Youth Division at the June 3 PinoyAthletics Summer Series #2.
The surprise in the Boys 400m was the latest Kenneth! from Region 12 Kenneth Simtim! along the lines of Kenneth Nodos and Kenneth Corpuz, who were also previous 400m runners from SOCKSARGEN. SimTim, who trains on a dirt oval, won in 50.10. Bernard Ramos of Laguna was 2nd in 50.79, and Jhon Masuhol 3rd in 50.93.
