2019 Ho Chi Minh City Open
2019 Ho Chi Minh Open Track and Field – Evaluation of Philippines Athletics Team with 4 months till SEA Games 2019
It is fair to say that everyone in the Philippines contingent sent to the Ho Chi Minh Track and Field Open in Vietnam (July 17-19), except Alvin Vergel, was self-funded.
Therefore as Vergel spent his own funds on this trip, it’s hardly fair to evaluate his performance as he did not rely on government funds.
To Analyse the performance, I will present several data selections.
For this exercise/write up, we will not include athletes in the evaluation who are members of the national team who did not join the Vietnam Open.
As that would diverge from evaluating the 2019 Ho Chi Minh Vietnam Open performances.
a
1. 2019 Improvements Performances of National Athletes
I will be presenting data charts based on templates used with Ayala Corporation. to evaluate the National Team in 2018.
2. The Following Athletes are Members of the Training Pool but not ranked in the Top 10 in their respective event in SEA
- Eloiza Luzon (*4×100 Bronze 2017)
- Louielyn Pamatian
- Marisol Amarga
- Melissa Escoton
- Angel Carino
- Daniela Daynaata
- Mico Del Prado (*4×400 Bronze 2017)
- Edwin Giron Jr.
- Anfernee Lopena (4×100 Bronze 2017)
3. Athletes sent to 2019 Ho Chi Minh Open Vietnam when there are local athletes ranked ahead in their events
- 100 – Eloiza Luzon (12.19) – Decerie Niala (11.98w)
- 1500 – Masano (4.01.63) and Giron (4.04.39) – Mervin Guarte (3.58)
- TJ – Angel Carino (12.14) – Jasmin Bombita (12.46)
4. Ranking of Performances in Vietnam Open
5. Some Notes
Based on the above results.
It seems the only breakthrough from the 3 Month Lingayen training stint came from Clinton Kingsley Bautista, who tied his PB (no wind reading though) 110 Hurdles with (14.13).
Michael Del Prado trained at Brunei with his father leading up to this meet improved his PB .02 seconds from 48.02 to 48.00.
Performances #13 to #19 Seem highly questionable due to eroding performances throughout the year 2019. #15 Performed quite well a few days prior, on July 13, with a 12.08 in the states.
#20 is difficult to access as I did not participate in the Decathlon event, and #21 False started so that no conclusion can be drawn.
#22 and #23 were part of a 4×400, above performance #13 in the Table.
Based on this, both Men’s and Women’s Middle Distance seem very unproductive, with not a single National coached athlete looking like any remote medal chance due to the vast distance from the medal standards.
*Ubas will join Deca at SEA Games; otherwise, why would he have joined Discus as well if he was concentrating on Long Jump.
