Hima Das wins the World Junior 400m Title for India

2018 World Athletics Junior Championships Updates Stream

Lalu Zohri, the Asian Junior Champion from Indonesia, took out heat 1 in 10.30. Miyamoto, who was silver to him at the Asian Juniors, was a distant second in 10.50. Boers of the Netherlands timed 10.66 to qualify through.

Dominic Ashwell of Great Britain ran a PB of 10.36 to win heat 2; over the much-fancied Jack Doran of Australia, who clocked 10.41, Luis Brander of Germany was third in 10.52. The other Brit Chad Miller won heat 3 in a PB of 10.33, from Michael Bentley of Jamaica 10.34, and Satoru Fukushima of Japan in 10.37.

Girls 800m Heats
Two Japanese girls are leading qualification to the semi-finals. Ayano Shiomi won Heat 1 in 2:05.13, the silver medalist at the Asian Juniors. Shiomi has a PB of 2:02.73. She beat Wambui of Kenya, Samantha Watson (USA), and Jemima Russell (Australia), who all also qualified for the next round.
Ayaka Kawata
Ayaka Kawata of Japan won Heat 3 in a similar but slightly faster 2:05.08. PB of 2:02.71 and the Asian Junior Champion a few weeks ago in Gifu. She beat Lydia Lagat (a member of the famous family) of Kenya 2:05.63, Trapeau of France 2:05.72, and Camille Muls of Belgium, who all also qualified through.
Caitlin Collier
Caitlin Collier of the United States, who took it easy in Heat 4, winning at 2:11.30, has the best PB in the field at 2:00.65.

Jakob Ingerbritsen of Norway wins Heat 1 in 3:51.34, from George Manangoi of Kenya 3:51.40, with Oussama Cherrad of Algeria also making it through in 3:52.33 in Heat 1.

However, Heat 2 was much faster with Justus So get of Kenya winning in 3:44.70, the top 5 going under 3:46. Sorsa of Ethiopia 3:44.92, Teare of USA 3:45.06, Robin Van Riel  Netherlands 3:45.52 and another Norweigan Sondre Juven 3:45.64

World Athletics : Ashley Moloney

 

U20 Decathlon 100m Australian Ashley Moloney World Best for Juniors in Decathlon clocking 10.51. After 3 events, Moloney sits in 4th place overall.

Of interest coming up will be the first heat of the Men’s 100m which will see Asian Junior Champion Loli Muhammad Zohri of Indonesia (PB of 10.25), the fastest man in South East Asia this year, up against Daisuke Miyamoto of Japan, who he beat at Asian Juniors (PB of 10.23)

The 2nd Heat features Jake Doran, who just broke the Australian Junior Record with a 10.15 run last week.

 

Thando Dlolo of South Africa, who has timed 10.11, is in Heat 3.

  • Heat 4 has Enoch Adegoke of Nigeria 10.19 and Eric Harrison of the United States 10.26.
  • Heat 5 Monareng of South Africa 10.18
  • Heat 6 Schwartz of the United States the fastest in the field with a 10.09 PB.
