2013 Run for Change Invitational Meet (Sept 7-8) Dasmarinas Results
The first Run for Change run in cooperation with DLSU Dasmarinas University. Was successful with an invitational of Singapore also participating. The closeness of the meet (Sept 7 to 8) to the Thailand Open (Sept 3 to 6). Meant that nearly all the training pool and national team were not available for this meet. This meet was the idea of Mr. Eric Pasion the head of the Run for Change group. Eric got the idea from his friend, Singapore athletics general manager and 10 times SEA Games gold medalist Mr. James Wong.
The schools participating included University of the Philippines Far Eastern University, College of Saint Benilde, DLSU Taft, DLSU Dasmarinas and University of the Philippines
The meet was held at Dasmarinas, Cavite and used PATAFA officials. Hand times were used with no wind gauge. The meet was not officially certified by the IAAF so performances for National Records cannot be ratified here. About 150 athletes attended the meet.
RESULTS
Two members of the training pool who did make it to the meet were National Junior 100m Champion Anfernee Lopena (CSB). And National Junior 110 Hurdle Record Holder Patrick Unso (DLSU) who both clocked identical times in the heats. In the final Lopena won in 10.8 with Unso not starting the race. Lopena finished ahead of local athlete Marc Daven Agdasiw the PRISAA Champion (10.9) and other local Noli Torres the National Bronze medalist in this event (11.0).
Lopena took the sprint double also in the men’s 200m with a time of 22.0, ahead of National Silver medalist Jose Unso 22.2 and FEU’s Clinton Kingsley Bautista 22.3s.
Palaro Champion Audrey Yorac won the women’s 100 Hurdles in 15.7, and local Robert Francisco the men’s 110 Hurdles in 14.9. Ian Delos Santos of FEU won the 400 Hurdles in 55.4.
Michael Del Prado (the 2nd son of National Record Holder and former head coach Isidro Del Prado), won the men’s 400m in 50.7.
Local athlete Jodiel Mandawe won the Triple Jump with a new personal best of 14.20m. National training pool member Melvin Calano of JRU won the Javelin with a throw of 60.72m, just outside his best of 61.44m set at the NCAA.

Greetings in the name of St. La Salle!
We are pleased to inform you’re good office that De La Salle University. Dasmariñas will host the 1st Run for Change – DLSU-Dasmariñas Invitational Track & Field Meet on September 7-8, 2013. This competition will seek to bring together student-athletes from various top Manila and local schools together. With a select team from Singapore for a two-day track and field competition.
The objective of this track meet is to give selected student-athletes exposure in international competitions, a privilege normally reserved to members of the National Team or National Youth Selection Team.
As host of this event, the university will provide air-conditioned classrooms with sleeping mats for the confirmed teams that will start on the evening of September 6 until September 8, 2013, at cost worth PHP 2,500/day/room.
Reminding that as a participating school, you/your athlete will:
- Shoulder their food and transportation expenses to and from DLSU-Dasmariñas.
- Bring own beddings.
